Ezekiel 34:1–2 (NKJV): And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God to the shepherds: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks?
The Lord is your shepherd as stated in Psalm 23. The Lord God Himself is your shepherd. Jesus is your Shepherd. Breaking down into two points to show how God rebukes the shepards in Ezekiels prophesy. The shepards being conveyed here in Ezekiel 34: 1-10 are not literal shepherds. They were the leadership of Israel the priest and the teachers. It was those who appeared to be shepherds but were after their own interest. They appeared to feed the flock but the flock were left destitute and hungry. God anoints Ezekiel, one of the priest of the old covenant to prophesy against the shepards of Israel and say “Woe to the shepards that feed themselves. The rebuke is for the shepherds that were in it for themselves. For their own advantages, similar to what is going o today. He says “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! The Lord tells Ezekiel, should not the shepards feed the flocks? Feed the flock what? The Word of God. Not watered down truths or half truths or a feel good messages without proper nutrient and nourishment.
