A daily devotional moment by Chris Garcia
I felt it in my spirit today that there were many stuck in justifying their sinful choices. For example, oh this unequally yoked relationship is ok. Or it's ok to sleep around or it's ok to look at this or look at that with lust in our hearts. It is NOT ok. It grieves our Heavenly Father. Why? Because of the effects of sin. It is like cancer that grows in the soul. If you don’t get rid of sin, if you don’t confess it, repent of it, and renounce your sin, it grows in your soul like a cancer. The more you hate your sin and confess it, the more access you give the Holy Spirit. Giving him something to work with.
The good news is that Jesus already provided forgiveness for our transgressions and iniquities at the cross. What happens is this, if we diminish the power of sin, like it is not a big deal, we are actually diminishing the power of the price that was paid for sin. In other words, if we do not ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us how heinous and how grievous and how horrifying sin is, we will not come to realize how powerful, how precious, how costly, and how valuable the price that was paid for sin. When you diminish the power and the effects of sin in your life, you are saying that it’s ok, it is not a big deal, Jesus' blood was no big deal. Sin was such an offense to our Heavenly Father, that He sent His only begotten Son to pay for our sins. Simply put, the Holy Spirit is offended when we choose that mindset.
