BORN TO WORSHIP

Updated: Jul 7, 2023

A daily devotional moment by Chris Garcia

Psalm 131:1–2 (NKJV): Lord, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, Nor with things too profound for me. Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul. Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me.

Do you want to keep a good track of humility? Just understand that you are not meant to know it all. Revelation does bring understanding but understanding does not come by revelation. The revelation comes first, then comes the understanding. Just like Jesus. He said come and follow Me. Then they followed Him He did not explain his reason for them to follow and then later He began to become their teacher. Do you want to get a good grip on humility? Understand that you are not meant to know what to do in all things. You are simply called to follow God. There are many people that want to know exactly what God has for their lives. Now I may be stepping on some toes here but it is in a good way. There are many of you that want to know God's perfect will for your life. But the will for your life is to simply follow Him. We get caught up in what does that mean? Where are we gonna go? What are we going to say? What are we going to do? Where are we heading? What’s my calling? We then frustrate ourselves into a frenzy and become immobilized. When our position should not be in what am I called to do but in, Lord I will follow you. I don’t need to figure out what God’s perfect will or desire is for where I need to be in my life. I just need to follow Him. I just draw near to God and if I truly believe in God and say that I follow Him and that I have fellowship with God, then I will come to the overwhelming belief that God will lead me when He needs to. If God, is God, which He is, then don’t you think He will tell you when you need to know? This requires faith. We get caught in What’s my destiny? We get caught up in, where should I go to school? What is it that I am called to do? Who is my spouse? When God says son daughter quiet yourself and follow me. Jesus is the light of the world and so are we. If we behold the light then we become full of light. Let me tell you something about the word of God. The Bible says that Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path. Do you know what that really means? Think about this imagery for a moment. Close your eyes and imagine that you are surrounded by pitch darkness. Can you imagine this? Now imagine you are looking down at your feet and you see two little oil lamps on top of each foot.

Now think about this. If His light is a lamp unto our feet then that means that a radius of light is only going out so a distance around you into the darkness. What this means, is that you are not called to know everything in that dark path you are on. We are only called to look at the current light that is in front of us and walk with the little that is revealed before us. Just as there is a lamp or a light to your feet and you see a little light going out with each step illuminating a short distance in front of you. You are simply called to look at that light and walk in the little that you have. You are not meant to know the entire dark path that is before you. You are meant to simply look at your feet and the little bit of a path of light, now walk and repeat as you move forward with each step. The Light is Christ. The Light is the Word made flesh. The Light is Jesus. So you are not called to look just at your feet. You are called to look at the Light. You are not called to figure out the path. You are called to look at Him. So the next time that you are in a bind and you want to figure out what’s going on, where is it that you are heading? You need to stop and ask yourself a simple question. How much of the Light of Christ's face am I looking at? How much of the word of God am I sowing into myself? Have you ever noticed times when you asked the Holy Spirit a question and there will be times of divine grace and He answers you? Maybe in the moment. Maybe through another person or maybe at another time. Then there are moments when you have a real question and He never answers you. Am I the only one that has ever asked God a question and feels like I have never heard back? Do you want to know why this happens? It is because he is not concerned with the matter like you are. He does not see the situation the way that you see it. The only thing that God wants you to do is to be caught up in how He sees you. The only way to see how He sees things is to look to Him. Psalm 131:1 (NKJV): "Lord, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, Nor with things too profound for me." Think about this last point, regarding this verse.

When you look outside and you look at nature for example the ocean, a sunrise or sunset. Are you captivated by every single thing, picking it apart bit by bit of how that wonderful view was formed at that moment? Or do you see the picture and are filled with awe exclaiming, wow God is so good as you are captivated by the mystery of creation? Your response in that moment of awe is to simply worship your creator. This is why we should not “Concern ourselves with great matters nor things too profound for us.” We are not called to figure it all out. We are called to look and say wow, I worship you. The reason why is that you are provoked to worship. You were made by God to worship Him.
