Fresh Oil Devotional, Day 2: The Secret Place as a Source of Power

Scripture: But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place.” — Matthew 6:6

Reflection: Jesus modeled a life of powerful public ministry that was sustained by intimate, private moments in the presence of God. The secret place, away from distractions and public view, becomes a sacred space where believers can encounter God deeply and intimately. This private communion with God becomes the wellspring of strength, wisdom, and grace for all aspects of life.

In the secret place, God meets His children personally and refreshes them. Here, stripped of worldly validation and performance, a true heart connection with God is formed. This foundation of intimacy equips believers to walk in power, peace, and purpose, grounded in the knowledge of His presence.

As we grow in this space, our lives become marked by His influence, which extends to every area. The strength and peace that flow from a personal relationship with God provide resilience and clarity. Spending time in the secret place renews our spirit and prepares us for the challenges and callings ahead.

Prayer: Father, teach me to prioritize the secret place, making it a daily refuge where I can encounter Your presence. Amen.

Thank you so much for having me. I was just reading the devotional on this website page and I noticed after reading one paragraph I got annoyed and God showed me I want a quick fix. I didn't want to keep reading. The Lord showed me I cannot go deeper the way I want and he cannot work in my life the way I want because I want it to be fast and not put in the work, hard work. Work requires sitting still, meditating, moving slow like slowwwwwwing down, focusing, asking the Lord a question and waiting for him to answer. Wait upon the Lord I say wait upon the Lord, as it says in scripture. So thanks to…
