Fresh Oil Devotional, Day 5: The First Draw – Being Faithful in the Wilderness

Day 5: The First Draw – Being Faithful in the Wilderness

Scripture: Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” — Proverbs 13:12

Reflection: Seasons of wilderness, when God feels distant, are often times of growth and refining. During these times, God invites His children to trust and remain faithful, even when they do not feel His immediate presence. In the wilderness, He is building strength, faith, and resilience that prepare believers for a deeper relationship with Him.

Faithfulness in the wilderness leads to a greater understanding of God’s character and His faithfulness. When believers continue to seek God in these dry seasons, they find that He is preparing them for something greater. God’s presence becomes even sweeter and more powerful as a result of enduring these challenging times with trust.

Wilderness seasons teach us to depend solely on God’s promises, knowing He will sustain us through every trial. By remaining faithful in these times, we develop a resilience that enables us to walk in greater faith. God meets us in the wilderness, using it as a stepping stone to the deeper and more intimate relationship He has planned for us.

Prayer: Father, in the times when I feel alone or distant, help me to remain faithful, trusting that You are working within me. Amen.
